What actually moved

A running log of what has actually moved in Dholera, with dates and sources, and clearly separated from what is still only a target. We log confirmed developments, from the expressway opening and the first trial aircraft landing to fab hiring and new semiconductor units, and we resist the hype that treats every plan as an achievement.

What actually moved

Dholera generates a lot of announcements, so this page tracks the ones with real substance behind them. Confirmed on-ground and official developments through mid-2026 include: the Ahmedabad to Dholera expressway, reported inaugurated on 31 Mar 2026; the first trial aircraft landing at the new airport on 4 Jun 2026, an AAI calibration landing that proves the runway is usable but does not mean the airport is open; CCEA approval on 13 May 2026 for the roughly Rs 20,667 cr, 134 km Ahmedabad to Dholera semi-high-speed rail, targeted for completion by 2030-31; and about 300 MW of solar operational within the 1,000 MW sanctioned first phase. On the industry side, the Tata and PSMC fab crossed the halfway mark on civil work by mid-2026, an ASML lithography partnership was confirmed, and on 5 May 2026 the Union Cabinet cleared two more semiconductor units, one in Dholera and one in Surat, together over Rs 3,900 cr and more than 2,200 jobs.

What is still a target

Just as important is what has not happened yet, however often it is announced. The airport is reported around 80% complete with operations targeted for late 2026, but no firm opening date should be treated as fact, because that target has slipped repeatedly since around 2010. The fab targets first silicon around December 2026 and commercial-scale production reported around mid-2028, and no source confirms a chip has been produced. The 5,000 MW solar figure and the more-than-800,000 jobs figure are full build-out targets, not current totals. We keep these in a separate column on purpose, so a plan is never mistaken for a milestone.

How this log works

Each item here carries a date and rests on a cited source, government, official project page or credible press. When a development graduates from target to confirmed, we move it and note the change. When a widely shared claim turns out to be unverified, we say so rather than repeat it. This is the honest scoreboard for a place where the marketing usually runs years ahead of the concrete.
